Laptop for student - Budget €500-€600

Hi,

I wonder if someone could assist - looking to buy a laptop for a child - no leaving cert for a few years doubt this will last until their student days. Have bought Leonvo and am happy with the quality so looking at them, though am open to other manufacturers. Have a few machines in mind - see below. Don't know whether 8GB ram is underpowered for only light usage (SIMS etc) - can anyone give their view on the 2 listed below?

the ideapad slims look ok value . someone i know just bought the 3i 16 . soldered ram isnt great but looks decent value
