Hi, as above I'm looking for gift recommendations for my 1 year old godchild. I don't have kids myself so I'm not sure of what is appropriate or useful. I've bought her plenty bits like teddies and books already but would like to get her something meaningful and lasting for this first birthday. Ideally avoiding plastic or anything too technology focused. Anyone gifted or been on the receiving end of particularly nice gifts for a 1 year old?

    Budget up to about €200.

    Thanks!

We bought our 1 year old a suede ball pit for her birthday. She loves it.

She also has a pikler triangle which is a fantastic resource for developing gross motor skills.

I didn't buy from the below website as we are Middle East based so went more local but they essentially to the same stuff as we have.

Nice one. She has a ball pit already. My sister (her mam) is qualified in an area that deals with early childhood development so the pikler triangle looks really interesting! Thanks :-)

A bit cheaper than your budget, but any of my mates who’ve had kids recently, I’ve named a star for them. You get quite a bit for €29.99, the parents loved it and it’s something interesting for them when they get a bit older.

I bought my kid a pikler triangle at about that and he still loves it more than a year later. It takes up a bit of space though so maybe check that they have space for it first.

It's a no brainer if your sister works in an early years setting. If you want, drop me a PM and I can send pics of ours if you want so you know what kind if space they take up.

We gifted personalised height measuring charts for our family’s children and our own kids. How tall is ……. Etc. It’s a beautiful tradition to measure and photograph graph them on charts every birthday and Christmas. From ‘Not on the high street’
