Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is 85,500 high for a 182 5 series. I feel its not too bad. Car has had 4 owners.

Is that miles or km? What model 5 Series is it?

4 owners in 5 years seems a bit high to me. Would want to look into that a bit more, see what the duration of each ownership period is. Lots of those cars for sale so no need to be stuck on just one.

    M

Miles yes, KM no. The 4 owners would put me off most.

    its kms.

Ya I hear what your saying but out of the ones I have singled out this has the lowest milage. Majority over 100,000.

4 owner is a concern. Got a mechanic to do a check and everything comes back OK.

    Had a 520 d M sport from new.

Put 125k (miles) on it over 3 years.

Never had the slightest problem with it. I think a headlight bulb went once. Serviced on time and driven with respect.....but hard.

85k , if kept serviced and well driven, is not all that much.

can the mechanic check the service records ?

its a ridiculous amount of owners for a 5 year old car - very suspicious

If serviced by the dealer the service records of all that was done and when are in the cars screen menu

Owner numbers suspicious, mileage not so much once it's reflected in the price.

It's not a tax dodge like it used to be changing owners as the tax is cheap on these and you wouldn't expect owners of a reasonably new car at that price to need to do it anyway.

I'd be out straight away and looking at different examples. Could be a lemon. An expensive one.

If your budget can only stretch to high mileage or questionable examples then it might be best to look at alternatives. These cars can be expensive to repair if you buy the wrong one

Could be 3 actual owners on the car though if it had been a demo car or garage car originally. If that was the case, I would not consider 3 owners in 5 years to be excessive.

All depends on the history of the car anyway. If it has been serviced in a main dealer and on the button with all work being carried out properly then I don't see a problem. I have bought 2 year old cars with more than 85k Kms before and made sure that all the required maintenance work was up to date. Never had an issue once due diligence was done.

I wouldn't go near that, 4 owners in 5 years is not a good sign. First owner should be two years, second owner the last three years... You should really looking to be the third owner. Two more people decided the car wasn't for them in that time as well.
