Getting a dog put to sleep

So, the time has come for a family member, who is on very limit means to get her old collie euthanized. She is in a state in case the vet asks for hundreds of euro for the procedure. Is there an alternative way to get a dog put down legally for free or a small cost. Dog pound, animal shelter etc? Dublin area

Can she not ask how much it will be in advance. I got one done a number of years ago. I don't recall the cost so I doubt it was that much

Yes, she can. Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to explore if there are other avenues, in case she can't afford the vets.

It Costs about €100.00, and that was with a home visit.
Hope she stays with the dog to the end, very cruel on the dog otherwise.
