Circulating pump not running

    Hi all.

I've a circulating pump that wired to a fused spur. The spur takes power from the immersion. There's also an imit thermostat connected to the spur. Photo explains it better that I can.

When we turned on heating a few weeks ago the pump wasn't coming on so I changed it out, put it in facing right way, wired it the same way as before and there is no power going to the pump. I checked the fuse on spur beforehand.. assumed the pump was the problem as it was old, but now not so sure?

This is how the inside on the spur is wired

The wire to pump is entering through the side and the thermostat from the bottom, the red wires have me stumped

It's a gravity system with pump on return from rads as far as I can make out

The red wires are for a neon indicator that someone added to the fused spur unit - no idea why. Just ignore them for now.

What type of heating system have you? Just oil/gas? Or is there a solid fuel cooker/stove involved also?

The issue is possibly with the cylinder stat, did you try adjusting the dial? although it’s not clear from the photos what exactly is going on there.

I had an issue with a pump recently that wasn't firing. I open the brass coloured screw in the middle and forced the pump to rotate with a screwdriver. Put the screw back in and hey presto. A little water does come out when you open that screw. The pump was just stuck after 6 months of inactivity.

Edit: Apologies, you put in a new pump so unlikely to be the issue.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

It's oil. Previously it was hooked up to a Stanley and also an open fire.. however the fireplace has been blanked off. The side of Stanley heats up when the heating is on, it hasn't been lit in years. I have checked with a multimeter the connections in the spur..seems to be OK .. how is best to check thermostat?
