Don't think I've seen a thread made for this, maybe I'm wrong! But was thinking it might be a decent idea for one. If you are out and about and spot a decent window display for Christmas, put up some pics and let everyone see! I'm sure there are some amazing ones around the country whether they are over the top or just nice and simple. I'll start.....

I used to drive to a site in Athy up until recently and when driving through the town there was one cafe/bakery that always had amazing displays, I clearly remember a CHristmas one previously that was fabulous. Wouyld love to see if they still go to so much trouble and do another one this year.

The most unexpected one for me was in a butcher's shop window in East Wall - Curtis Family Butchers.

I don't know if they still do it, as I'm no longer working in the area.

There was even a piece on RTE covering it.

That's absolutely brilliant! Fair play to him for doing that for years. He must have made so many people happy.

It's great when places put the effort in. Even small places can do amazing displays when they are done right. I used love when places got cartoons done on their window of funny displays like the local butcher giving Santa his turkey. I don't know if that was a done thing elsewhere but in Waterford it was a major thing. Sadly very few do it anymore.

That was at the arcades in Tramore late last November!

Great idea for a thread. I absolutely love old school window painting. There can be some nice ones locally. I'll keep my eyes peeled this year. If I remember correctly I think The Granville in Waterford might have had it as well. Loving the clips above and the photos. You definitely used to see more of it years ago.

The Granville definitely still do the old school cartoons. Their one last year was class.

Live in Ashbourne and Murtagh's Hardware really go all out every year with their window done up, they have them done since last week actually.

Love the images of The Granville. Nothing like some old style window painting. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any around here

Waterford was amazing as usual (unlike my pics ;-)). Love all the old style window painting. There was so much to do and see that I didn't really get a chance to take all of the photos I would've liked. When I win the lotto I'll be buying a house down there. Till the summer and we'll meet again!

Glad you enjoyed it. Next time you are down check out Dunmore East. Beautiful seaside village. A lot of businesses have gone with the old school paintings this year thankfully. Even two houses across the road from me did it but I don't want to be taking pictures of people's houses ha.

I also saw a brilliant painting on a house window about 2 years ago in Kildare but also didn't want to be taking photos of someone's house ;-) I would love to stay in Waterford for 2 nights next year so I might go to Dunmore East one of the days. Thanks for the suggestion :-) I wish I was going back this weekend. Can't beat Waterford. I should just move there!

I have not been in Dublin for a few years now, but can always recall Switzers Window in Grafton Street. The first year I think it featured The Muppet Show theme. Grafton Street had traffic going down it at the time and buses etc were delayed due to crowds at the windows.
