Acting HEO Role - Civil Service

Hi All, I've see threads about this before but never really got the answer I was looking for.

I have been asked to act up as a HEO in my section, i seen other posts about an allowance but not sure what it entails?

I'm point 5 on EO Scale currently , do I go to HEO scale point 1 for acting up?

Congrats on the offer.

Yes, you'll effectively go to point 1 on the HEO scale.

You'll have to work 84 days before you get paid the increase (allowance), but it'll be backdated to when you started.

Keep an eye on your payslip also, as you shouldn't pay pension deductions on the acting allowance, as you don't get pension entitlements for it.

(I'm pre 2013, so not sure for people after this, but worth being aware of it)

If you're post 2013 you do get pension entitlements for it. (Unless my HR dept is wrong!)

Can they make you permanent after 2 years in the role or is that a myth? I have been acting heo for almost 2 years
