Boiler not starting

    Hi folks,

I've a grant boiler with a myson compact pump.

The wife and I went travelling and just returned to the small granny flat we live in.

The heating never gave trouble before but it wouldn't fire up on return. Called a boiler service company locally and he serviced it and gave me the recordings from the test. I told him that when it was installed 10 years ago someone had left two pencil marks at 1/2 and 3/4 on the boiler dial. He reckons it was to bypass a problem causing the boiler to sound like it's a dishwasher ( I assume it's over heating the water causing it to boil) once he left the heating worked but it would shut on and off alot.

I've check power to the unit when it's called by the stat and it sends power and send power to the pump.

Ive been told its a pump issue but the boiler service man said call a plumber.

It's Friday and no chance of getting one till next week. Is there any fix I can do and is it most likely the pump?

I can spin the pump once the cover is off clockwise and anti clockwise. Sometimes when I turn on the heating and turn the temp diall up on the boiler it comes on for about 1 minute.

    Thanks

Turns out the issue was the circulating pump, it'd work at times if you manually spun it then fired the heating.

New one cost 220e fitted in case anyone else has a similar issue down the line.
