Can some one advise what references to put down after a long career break for entry/junior level jobs.

took a 5 year break from work to look after the small kids. now they want to get back to workforce but new job applications are asking for references.

if they are unable to contact ex colleagues from previous work place, what references can be provided?

    Please advise .

    thanks in advance.

    A couple of things:

    • Don't put references on a CV, just add a phrase like: "References will be provided once mutual interest has been established"
    • Don't give out references unless you have contacted them and got their permission to do so

In your case it is understandable that it will be difficult to track down people from so long ago, but you should at least have the written references you obtained at the time and can submit them if asked.

References these days are barely more than "X has worked here between Y and Z date".

There's very little information provided. I'd just reach out to the HR department, or via management that would have records.
