Car on PCP in Garage for a Month

    Hi all,

My VW is in the garage getting warranty work done. It's a mix of recalls and fixing things that went wrong. Parts deliveries mean it's going to be at least a month before I get it back (day 24 now).

Has anyone similar experience, and of trying to get some kind of money back from PCP?

It feels wrong that I'm paying for the car while their slow logistics mean a relay and steering wheel replacement takes so long.

    Thanks!

Do you have a replacement car from them of similar value?

If you do I can't see why you think you should get money back.

If you don't have a car from them, you should get one ASAP.

My father was in a similar situation recently (also a VW with a litany of software bugs) and after kicking up a bit he did get the loan of a suitable replacement. The replacement car should be something as close to your own car as is reasonable imo. e.g if your own car is a Tiguan DSG, a bog spec manual Polo as a replacement is not acceptable imo.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have a replacement car, but it is much smaller and considerably lower in value. On top of that, it is much costlier to run (diesel vs EV).

It was only after a bit of an argument that VW agreed to provide me with a replacement car. From VW's point of view, if the car can get to the dealer under its own power, they won't provide a free car (regardless of the issue being a warranty repair). Both I and the AA mechanic had to argue with VW to provide me with the free car.

Annnyway. I think it is worth rolling the ball to get some of the cost difference recouped given they have been unable to get the parts shipped from Germany in the 24ish days they have had the car.

Has anyone tried something like this before?

    Thanks again

How did this work out for you? My car is now with BMW for the past 5 weeks with no sign of repair ETA. The replacement they gave me was not like for like! I want my money back! Considering going to a solicitor.
