External Insulation (the wrap) grant

Hi all,

I see alot of older houses getting the external insulation wrap done lately, Im planning on getting it done myself soon but am wondering if anyone on here could answer me some questions about it.

I know theres a grant available for it, which I would be availing of, the grant for my own particular property is €6,000 but Im wondering how much is the normal cost of the entire job. Would it normally be much more above the grant available ? Would I be expecting to pay another 5-6k of my own money on top of the grant or what would the ballpark figure be roughly?

Get at least 3 quotes.

No one can answer this for you here as every property is different it could be 8 grand. It could be 35. It needs eyes on.

Our detached house was priced at over 30k - even with the grant taken off that it’s still too expensive. We’re in our 60s and I’m a couple of years off retirement- husband is retired already on only an ok pension.

I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money at this stage of our lives.

For the external insulation wrap? Ive seen houses near me get it done recently and the whole process has been started and finished in a week max, how can they justify charging 30k for that? I know theres materials etc but surely they arent that level of expense?
