NCT Fail Brake Hose Mounting

My car failed NCT for one thing.

Brake Lines/Hoses - Mounting - Unsatisfactory mounted (or misplaced) with the possibility of failing. Offside Front.

The tester said the hose isn't attached to the shock properly and is just flapping around. And that it would need to be refitted.

I had the car in the garage a few months back getting new discs and pads on the front so I am guessing the brake hose could have been moved then and not secured properly. Or if it was loose then the mechanic never mentioned it to me. I was wondering would it just be a case of bolting or screwing the hose back onto the mounting points ?

If the mounting point is still there, then it is a simple operation to secure the brake line back to it. You could have a look yourself to see if you can scope it out. You may be able to resolve it yourself in a couple of minutes, otherwise, bring it to a mechanic and have them sort it.

I checked it today and the brake hose was unbolted from the mounting point on the shock with bolt missing. The garage must have forgot to put it back after the disc change.

I checked the other side to see what size bolt is needed. I have a bolt that is similar in size and thread. I tried it and it does the job but it has a different head that requires an allen key to open instead of a socket head type. Would that be ok for the NCT or would they be particular about having the exact bolt ?

Once it's tight it will be just fine
