Conversion and floor movement

I am converting a Sprinter van at the moment. I've just finished the floor (12mm ply on 25mm battens with plastic batt insulation). I noticed there is a slight flex on the floor when I walk on it. Nothing huge, just a very slight movement downwards when I walk around.

Oddly, I've never actually been in campervan so I am unsure if this is normal or not. Does anyone else's floor move slightly underneath them?

I am going to put some vinyl lino down over it but not until I am sure it's sound. I have the batten at about 400mm on centre (some even closer).

Does this seem normal?

12mm will have flex if your battens are too far apart. 18mm minimum would have been better.

I haven't seen many (if any) people using 18mm ply on their conversions. Do you have 18mm down on yours?

No, but I've installed 12 mm in sheds and it's rubbish underfoot.

I suggest you spaced your battens too far apart leaving poor support under foot. 18mm would have solved this, or 12 mm with closer batten widths between centres.

Yes 12mm is going to flex. 18mm should be minimum. If it ever gets damp (and it will) it will lose a lot of its integrity.

If I were you I would put another 9mm sheet over the top, glued and screwed.
