Phone-In Charity Ads

I just heard an ad for a charity speaking for donations to aid the people caught up in the situation in Gaza. No issue with the message at all. It’s worthy. The ad featured a guy ‘on the ground’ in Gaza phoning in his appeal. It reminded me of a load more I’ve heard in the past while.

I don’t get it in this day and age. If you can call into an agency to make an ad, You can just record side clips in your phone and send those on. I know it is maybe intended to emphasise the person is in the front line but to be it reminds me of George Hamilton of Jimmy McGee commentating on Rep of Ireland away matches from the 1980s via a phone. Things have moved on now though.

That guy is no more "on the ground" than Santa Claus

Concern use this all the time - put a blanket over the microphone to make it sound like they're on a satellite phone and then start the spiel
