Advice: New (Changing) Alloys for 07 Megane

Hi all:

My 07 Renault Megane is getting frequent punctures from paint on the alloy wheels corroding and popping the tyre.

If I want to replace the wheels, would I need to get ones specifically for that model, or is there a much wider range of new/used alloys that I could pick from?

I haven't got "A clue" about these things. Thanks

DoneDeal is a good spot to pick up wheels and tyre sets for a few hundred. Breakers are good too. What part of the country are you based in?

You just need ones that are 4x100, 15 or 16" in size and with an offset around 45. You may want to check the spec of the wheels just to be sure

Are you sure the wheels are the reason for the punctures? I don't really understand what you're saying but I just can't see flakes of paint causing constant punctures.

Center bore is super important too, too small won't fit, top big and you will be picking up your fillings after every drive

Yes, I can understand that. The lads in the tyre place show me the problem every time. its not like rust, but the metal corrodes (i think) from behing thick paint/chrome type covering, creating an uneven surface. I think if you go over bumps and things, it causes the seal between the tyre and the wheel to break, or something like that.

16 year old alloys won’t be in great shape depending on how well the previous owners took care of them.

A new set will freshen up the car.
