Farm Yard Manure

Does anyone know the approximate spreading rate for farm yard manure. By that I mean what area does say, 10 cubic metres of manure cover? I've a pile of manure and I'm wondering roughly what area it will do. Is it a case of telling the contactor to slow down or speed up to get it all in one area?

10 ton per acre would be a fairly standard rate, you can put it out and heavy/light as you want, within reason.

You'll know by the capacity of the dungspreader.

Imagine ten or twelve bales of silage loose in a heap.

10 tonnes would probably look like a half an 8 wheeler truck load

It will spread differently depending on the stuff, maybe half rotted and with silage through it, or well rotted stuff that might have been mixed.

I reckon I spread around 50 tonne this year, did around 3.5 acres

When is best time to spread it?

Have a nice bit of horse manure, straw mixed with rotted silage.

I'm no expert (obviously😂) but having it out over Winter so the rain and frost can break it down is the advice I got.
