External fibre run headaches

Been chasing Eir to install fibre at my 70s Semi Detached and its been a very long process. They finally sent out someone from KNIS to do the survey and he took on look at the EWI on the house and said he's going to report back back before anything further happens. Months pass...... Turns I need someone else to come out…

Turns I need someone else to come out and run conduit through that EWI external wall.
Anyone have this issue before?
What am actually looking for just a hole or some type of special system?
What to look out for?
