1960s timber frame house - pros and cons?

I am interested in buying a house that is an American-style timber frame construction from the 1960s. It has floor and ceiling vents suggesting it originally had forced air heating but it also has radiators installed more recently. It’s very outdated (still has single glazing!) and needs to be completely renovated top to bottom.

Is it crazy to consider renovating this type of house? What are the considerations, in terms of cost and logistics?

    Thanks

Yes, not great, I get that. It’s in a very good location though and if it was possible to renovate it for a reasonable amount, it could be a fabulous home. Do you think it would be more expensive to renovate than a block built house?

Unfortunately there are very few well-located houses in Galway city that aren’t 60s/70s builds in need of serious renovation.

How expensive it is to renovate depends on the condition. Kind of a how long is a piece of string situation.
