Perkins 248 engine crankshaft

Hi i have Perkins 248 engine with a scored big end conrod journal. Have it stripped and out. Was promised a second hand one from a man but man is now uncontactable. Options are buy new but was told would have to balance new crankshaft so it would come very expensive. Second option is grind and polish old one . So wondering…
