Wifi enabled heating controller

    Hi All,

I know this has been asked here before, but I couldn't find a recent one with a reasonable answer.

I have OFCH, with one Zone. The house if from the 1980s, but had a new condenser boiler fitted this year. Separate water tank (i.e. not a combi-boiler).

    Heating only has 1 zone.

I have an analog heating time like the one in this picture, but the timer itself has stopped working and I'd like to replace it with something a bit better.

Ideally what I would like is a digital one that has multi-day function and can be controlled using wifi and voice (Alexa/Google Home).

But, I don't need to control it while outside the house, so don't want anything that requires a subscription and don't want anything that requires me to install a separate hub or install anything in the boiler house itself.

Does such a product exist? i.e. a standard digital timer, but that can connect to home wifi directly (without an additional hub)?

    Thanks,

    Brendan.

Thanks, but that has a hub and a separate thermostat on top of the timer itself.

What I’m looking for is just the timer part but that can connect directly to my home WiFi.

E.g my printer is WiFi enabled and can connect to the WiFi directly without the need for a hub, my electric car charger can connect to the WiFi directly without a hub and can have timers scheduled, etc. I find it hard to believe there isn’t a simple timer that can connect directly to the WiFi itself.

Also for about that price I could get a Google Nest system or a Hive.

But thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have a sonoff basic wired in series with one of those timers, you can control it and set up schedules from the app with no subscription. Total cost €7 at the time and dead simple to get going.

You don't mention if there's an existing thermostat or if you need one. I have a semi complicated setup involving home assistant but I'm sure there are simple temperature sensor out there that can control sonoff switches if you need it.

Thanks. The is no thermostat as such. There is a dial on the boiler itself to set the desired temperature which translates to the boiler switching on and off, etc. but nothing actually measuring the temperature inside the house (at least not to my knowledge)

But I haven’t needed it up to now so….

Typically during the winter we just have the heating on a timer for an hour or two in the morning and an hour or two in the evening and adjust the timing up or down as the weather changes. Then we would switch it on ad-hoc here and there if we feel cold. So, I’m just looking to do that, but via WiFi!

I’ll have a look at the sonoff.

    Thanks.

Sonoff basic is what you need.

I installed one last year, great job.

I got one of these, easy to install, set all your times on an app, and you can control it through alexa, etc.
