Yet, you won’t hear condemnation of “from river to the sea, Palestine will be free” which is a call for israel to be wiped from the map and is a call for genocide, but it’s different when your side does it. You might want to look at a map, as most people chanting this haven’t.

You can keep trotting out that this is a call for Israel to be wiped from the map, but that doesn't make it true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,506 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

The phrase is codified in the Hamas constitution of 2017. That constitution also contains plans for the genocidal elimination of Jews.

In the context of the current situation in Gaza, using it against Israel is a way of expressing support for Hamas and their objectives.

Given the nature of the phrase and the existence of alternative slogans, there is no need to express it.

"Wiped from the map"…..how would this be achieved exactly? I can call in a chant for Belgium to be wiped from the map, but the chances of this happening would be higher than a trillion to one.

Can you show evidence of your claims that there are calls for the genocidal elimination of Jews in the 2017 Hamas Charter?

Do you condemn Bibi’s Likud party for using the phrase in their founding charter? Or is it only to be condemned when the wrong side uses the phrase?

It's a call for freedoms and equal rights for all people in historic Palestine, for a state that treats all people equally regardless of race or religion.

The Israeli state can't hide behind claiming anyone that opposes them as anti-Semetic forever. The world sees the apartheid state they have created. We see that Israel does not equal all Jewish people. The IDF is not exclusively Jewish. However, the Israeli state has gone down a path of elevating the rights of Jews (and not even all Jews) above everyone else in the state.

How is a call for the end of apartheid, the freedom of all peoples on the land, anti-Semetic? Explain that to me. Actually read into it instead of parroting "Somebody, somewhere, called for the extermination of all Jews" rather than what the every day people of the lands actually want, which is simply the freedom to live their lives without persecution.

You lads all need to give your heads a wobble.

The 2017 document is an update of a 1998 one. The 1998 Constitution contained multiple anti-semetic and genocidal elements.

However, in 2017, it was updated to reflect a more moderate direction of self-determination and equality. There are absolutely zero references of anti-semtisim or genocide in it. It challenges the legitimacy of the Zionist movement and the impact it has on those who do not conform.

I suggest you read it yourself instead of continually accusing other posters of being anti-semtitic without any substance to back it up.

So Israel used a 500lb bomb on the sea front cafe on Monday.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jul/02/israeli-military-bomb-fragments-gaza-al-baqa-cafe

Prior to using it the IDF claimed “prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians using aerial surveillance”.

Sick of these sick bunch of ****.

What does it mean when Israelis say the exact same thing?

    Good post..

What I find massively ironic is that those that accuse people of being antisemitic (it in itself a complete misnomer seen as Israel are mass slaughtering actual semites) is that they fail to recognise they themselves are being massively antisemitic.

By defending a state whose "democratically" elected leaders say their goal is to cleanse an area of the ethnic people, who's army actively engages it, who commit war crimes on a **** epic scale and completely deny it, who are enacting a man made famine to collectively punish a population (another war crime) and who shoot and bomb unarmed civilians, you're effectively saying that all that is a core tenet of Judaism….

To criticize an entire region and their religious beliefs as though they are all backwards and extremists whilst simultaneously defending Zionism (a ethno-supremacist ideology who purports to give a **** about Jews whilst not recognising all of them) as well as Christian Zionism (an ideology which wants to see the Jews burnt to trigger the end of times) takes such a massive level of cognitive dissonance and ignorance its hard to fathom at times.

So yeah apart from being Islamophobic, I mean that's a given seen as Israel murdering 50x times the number of Palestinians barely illicits a response, in fact its defended, they're also antisemitic. I suppose seen as Zionism and Islamaphobia are both racist at their core, its consistent at least.

It's just a pity Hamas disagree with your definition but do carry on.

You have zero chance of getting an answer to that!

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Absolutely f***in disgusting yet the British government among others were more upset by a rapper at Glastonbury criticising the IDF than the latest act of mass murder by Israeli psychopaths. We live in truly deranged times

Yep, the West has completely and utterly lost its moral authority. Strange days.

Hamas does not equal all people of Palestine, just the same as Israel does not equal all Jews.

Please feel free to provide evidence to back up your statement.

That's terrible, looks like it might have been up to seven of them too. His wife was killed as well and she's not in that photo.

There was that other doctor a while back who lost all her kids and husband or something. 10 kids?

You've gotta give it to the Israelis.. If you want your bombs and forced starvation to be even more efficient, bomb the hospitals and the doctors and nurses' homes so people can't be saved.

The Nazis were likewise obsessed with the efficiency of the death camps.

Did you actually read it? Or maybe you failed to understand it.

"27. A real state of Palestine is a state that has been liberated. There is no alternative to a fully sovereign Palestinian State on the entire national Palestinian soil, with Jerusalem as its capital."

"20. Hamas believes that no part of the land of Palestine shall be compromised or conceded, irrespective of the causes, the circumstances and the pressures and no matter how long the occupation lasts. Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea."

"21. Hamas affirms that the Oslo Accords and their addenda contravene the governing rules of international law in that they generate commitments that violate the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people."

They are looking for nothing less than the destruction of Israel and the people within. They have held conferences and conventions where they have set out their plans to deport the Jews. They have also stated that the 2017 document does not replace the charter:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-39744551

"The new document, which Hamas says does not replace the charter,"

"The document says this does not, however, mean Hamas recognises Israel's right to exist in any part of the land or that it no longer advocates violence against Israel."

You had those same "Palestinians" out celebrating the invasion of Israel by Hamas and celebrating the rape , torture and murder of men women and children and the subsequent abduction of babies.

The international press are banned so it's often doctors and other medical staff who are providing updates on the situation in Gaza. It makes them a prime target for the cowardly IDF and Israeli govt who want their actions hidden.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,746 ✭✭✭circadian

Where is there genocidal intent in any of this? Where does it state they want the removal of Jews?

It doesn't. It simply calls for the formation of a new state where people are treated equally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,746 ✭✭✭circadian

So, no evidence then. I have no idea what your response is meant to achieve but at the same time I wonder if you feel that this is some sort of justification of the Israeli actions in Gaza as a response, regardless of the truth of your post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,980 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

isn't that the constitution that would recognise a 2 state solution? Doesn't sound very genocidal to me.

Also, the Israelis are trying to genocide the palestinians. They are bombing and starving them in Gaza. In the westbank they're colonising it one bit at a time. This is one of those cases where every accusation is actually an admittance of guilt.

Terrible things happen in war but saying just because Israelis let a bomb fall absolves the pro Hamas side of calling for the genocide of Israelis is ludicrous.

Were you out protesting when Hamas killed and raped men women and children or were you likes lot including the UN denying it happened despite the Hamas video footage of it.
