This is a long article from Jeremy Bowen of the BBC. It gives a comprehensive summary and focuses on the legalities of Israel's campaign. It's a good read for those wishing to inform themselves of the facts and avoid being drawn in by Israeli Hasbara.

We know this is illegal immoral and reprehensible. The EU needs to sanction Israel immediately.

The EU and UK needs to ban all arms exports to Israel immediately.

Ireland needs to block all US military over flights and stopovers immediately.

Irish consumers need to boycott everything sold by anyone who continues to do business with or support Israel immediately

Jesus, most of our workers work for companies from USA and other countries that do business in some way or other with Israel. Have a think about that maybe. It'd take years to implement such sweeping change anyway and we'd need to be virtually self sufficient, which we aren't nearly. The amount of people who think this sort of thing can be done without virtually destroying our own economy is frightening.

Took me a half hour to read, but it's a very good report.

It worked against South Africa and our economy did not collapse

And relying on American is not an option anymore. Trump just kicked off the civil war

    It wasn't just ireland.

"Irish consumers need to boycott everything sold by anyone who continues to do business with or support Israel immediately'

That's what you posted. That's a lot of country and industries just there. Not just Israelis.

Where did i say Ireland should do it alone?

The first thing I said was that the EU should sanction Israel. The EU sanctions on Russia prohibit businesses from trading with Russia or Russian companies

Yes, and all the other things I said.

At a minimum, stop interacting with Israel owned companies. Stop buying soda stream products, don't use Monday.com, or Wix, or fiver.com, stop playing Raid shadow legends and other games made by Israel owned development studios...

Voice your concerns to your employers if they use G4S or have any investments or partnerships in Israel...

Yeah that's gonna put Israel down on their knees..

And probably will make the two nations in question love each other.

    Naivety at it's best.

I read earlier that Ireland is the second biggest importer of Israeli products in the world. Is that true? All those life saving medical devices and drugs? Just boycott them too i guess? And your phone? Toss it in the river if you dont want israeli products.

Meanwhile, if Israel said they will no longer supply Ireland with life saving medical products and tech you would say they were evil and extending the genocide to ireland etc. Can't win.

I would imagine that you're currently, and have been for many years, boycotting Chinese products also, given that they have actually been committing genocide now for a long time, complete with literal concentration camps for muslims, or no?

Israeli economy is already in free-fall.

    Edit - here's the data:
After the Gaza war, the Israeli stock markets and currency nosedived.

It is estimated that Israel will lose around $400 billion in the next decade and experience a significant economic shock. Ninety percent of this will result from indirect consequences such as reduced investment, labor market disruptions, and hindered productivity growth.

On August 2024, Fitch Ratings downgraded Israel's credit rating. The Bank of Israel has counted war-related costs from 2023 to 2025 at up to $55.6 billion. Another consequence of the war was that consumer spending dropped by 27%, imports fell by 42%, and exports declined by 18%.

No, it's not true. Check your sources.

Funnily enough, there are many other suppliers of phones, drugs, medical equipment etc. Ireland is a large manufacturer of the latter two of course. So any boycott of Israeli goods would have zero impact.

If we are an important trading partner then we have an even bigger obligation to do something

What does this question has to with my post? You would hardly go the route this thread usually follows, wouldn't you?

Of all things to kick off civil war in America it was actually upholding the law.

I've been watching videos like that for a year and a half now. It sickens my to my core and there are those that claim to believe a Palestinian life is worth the same as an Israeli. Like ****...

Israel has the same right to exist as either Nazi Germany or Apartheid South Africa had, i.e **** all. Its revoked its right. Its a sick terrorist state full of child killers and those that excuse it. **** them!

(If true?) I assume it is mostly Intel Leixlip "trading" with Intel Haifa, vs Ireland being dependent on the wonders of Israeli ingenuity and products etc. Intel has had a bad few years, but it is still a giant MNC with big turnover etc. Intel is (originally) a US company founded by an American. I think Ireland could be okay for medical devices/technology without Israel. Afaiaw we make quite a lot of these things here for US companies, same as Israel does probably.

According to this article in the examiner, we do a lot of trade with Israel, or rather multinational companies (US owned) based here do.

Looks like Israel are getting ready to attack the humanitarian aid ship travelling to Gaza

No matter what they do, I cannot see any scenario where the regime comes out of this looking like the good guys. The creeps can't even explain why 12 ordinary citizens on board a civilian vessel trying to land food and medicine for starving people on the shore is illegal or what specific international law it breaches.

The usual tiresome Israeli slurs in action too. After 611 days of constant use, they've devalued the word to meaninglessness:

"To Greta the anti-Semite and her companions, Hamas propaganda mouthpieces, I say clearly: turn back because you will not reach Gaza," Mr Katz said.

Has anyone the link to the IDF shooting civilians getting aid ? And have they accepted responsibility.

Israel do not accept responsibility for anything they do

The humanitarian aid ship has switched off engines so that they can arrive into Gaza during daylight
