Framing a photocopy

I photocopied a picture that I found online in black and white and framed it. For about a year it looked great but now the paper has become a bit less flat and wrinkled under the frame. I could probably bring it to a professional but would prefer to fix it myself as I plan to frame more b&w photos. Has anyone here framed pics successfully? Thanks and apologies if posting in the wrong forum.

Maybe if you laminated it before you framed it, it would look better and would definitely last longer. It's only a photocopy so what have you got to lose?

you photocopied a photo you found online? or do you mean you printed it?

i cannot say i've ever heard of it, but a conscientious framer may refuse in principle to frame a photo if you don't own copyright.

Use heavy white paper in the printer, or photo paper.

When you say "photocopied", I assume you mean printed using a laser printer (which may be a photocopier too).

What kind of paper did you use? If it was just standard photocopy/printer paper (80 gsm), it's not going to hold up well. Use thicker paper. Ideally, print on an inkjet printer on good photo paper (even if it's B&W).

Another thing is not to put the print loose into the frame - use masking tape to tape it all around to the mounting board inside the frame. This will keep the page tight and reduce wrinkling. But it's the quality of the paper that's the real solution to this problem.
