Building insulated dog kennel - Advice

I just noticed this section.

I'm planning an insulated kennel for the dog. Maybe 2 rooms so 1 can be an entrance hall and the other will be protected from the wind. I was thinking 50mm x 50mm for the frame and rigid insulation and possibly a hinge on the roof.

Any advice welcome especially on what to use on the exterior

Thing is, You are thinking like a human ! Insulation keeps heat in, Dogs dont give off heat in the same manner that we do, insulation will be useless. just keep the wind/.rain off him

Given there is an open door on the kennel the insulation is pointless. It’s not like a house. Yeah

Focus on ensure its rain proof and that there are no drafts/wind etc.

There was a change of plan because a family member gave me a kennel so I made a porch for it from treated shiplap.

Looks very good.

As regards a door, you only need to keep the wind off the dog( he will be fine unless it goes below 0 C).

You could try a wooden door, or some of that heavy duty plastic, like you see in warehouses to allow forklifts to drive through. Its about 8mm thick so very hardwearing unless you have a dog that chews through everything. Make it slightly narrower than the opening and split in two, vertically.
