Dumping site on property

I recently bought a house that was in an unfinished state, in an online auction. It was mid summer and on the right side of the house there was what appeared to be a mound of earth, overgrown with briars and bushes. When doing some groun works on the property later, I discovered that it was a rubbish skip.

I have been several days removing the rubbish - would I have any grounds for taking action against the agents or the previous owners?

    On what basis?

Surely your engineer should've taken note of what it was?

    If in an online auction

no redress from anyone, anywhere, anytime.

You bought it as seen, or not as the case may have been

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

    Caveat emptor

On the plus side, a free skip for you

You might but you probably don’t and even if you do the previous owner probably doesn’t have the money to compensate you. It would be very expensive and time-consuming to find out for sure.

Dump the stuff and sell the skip

Is there a name or phone number on the skip ?

Contact them they will probably be glad to get their property back.

I think the OP meant rubbish tip, not that there's actually a skip there.

If that is the case he should dispose of the waste to a licenced facility as soon as possible.

As the landowner the onus is now on him.

Yes, there's no skip, just lots of rubbish.

I can see why it was sold in mid-summer.

If that's the only issue you had with the house buying from an online auction count yourself lucky
