Just in case anyone is interested, a competition launched today for Army Reserve and Navy Reserve.

    Go to https://military.ie/en/careers/current-competitions/

Process is the same as for the PDF bar the pyschometric testing.

Fitness and medical requirements as per the PDF.

Feel free to PM with any questions, I have a good few years clocked up at this stage in it.

It's perfect if you want a taste of the military or if you are considering it as a career whilst you study etc.

I joined to get a taste of the military and with the aim of going for a Cadetship. I never went for the Cadetship in the end despite a few attempts to get me to apply by some.

I did however end up in the Cadet school at a time training......

I am considering joining the RDF.

I am 31 this month and would be interested in the challenge. I was wondering can members leave at anytime or is it difficult to leave?

Also for the physical test can people hold your feet down during the sit-ups?

And How strict is the fitness test timings for the 2.4km run?

    You can leave anytime.

No, you can't have someone hold your feet. Look online there video guidance on the situp technique. See how far the hands come over the knees, a lot of people being them higher than needed and that fatigues them.

The timings are not flexible, there's an amber time and if you don't get that you fail.
