HSBC in Ireland for personal/private banking?

Somebody said, that HSBC was offering personal / private banking in Ireland?

However I couldn't find anything on that one. As far as I am aware, they only do business banking in Ireland?

Can anybody confirm?

Private banking is usually not advertised, it usually requires an introduction. What exactly are you looking for?

OK that is not private/personal banking then, it is just normal commercial banking. So you will need to find a bank licensed to offer commerical services within the EU and are will to take you on as a customer.

If you want to be able to visit a branch in Ireland your options are

An Post Money

Credit Union (some anyway)

bank of Ireland

AIB

Permanent TSB

In the interesting but useless information category, the "Michael O'Leary" of HSBC, i.e. not the founder but the man who built it up to matter, was an Irishman who was born in Leitrim and lived in Creggan, Co. Armagh.

I would consider HSCB Private Banking to be more of a sales gimmick targeted at the lower end of the mark. I mean they only require an AUM of 1.5m for heavens sake!
