I last built a PC about 10/15 years ago so it's well overdue for an upgrade (full rebuilt). It seemed a lot simpler back then, I feel there was a lot less options for each component.

As a starting off point for where I'm to go next, I have a total budget, but is there any rough guide on what percentage of budget should be spent on what? e.g, 50% on CPU, 20% on GPU etc...

Just to add, to be used for gaming so % should be weighted towards that.

I suppose what's your budget is the most important question, and is this a primarily a gaming build? The GPU will be the most expensive component, the price for them has risen dramatically.

Be around a grand. The price is back up again? I don't need to run any games at max setting but medium would be nice.
