Channel drain in existing concrete slabs

    Hi folks

Ive two concrete slabs in the driveway. Where they meet is the perfect place for a channel drain.

My question is if I cut the end of one slab to the width of the drain...dig the trench and fill with concrete to recommend depth and backfill the sides if there are any gaps.. is this enough or should I cut a much wider channel and backfill more..ie. have more new surface concrete..

The drain lines up nicely if I cut the end of one slab..but not so nicely if I need to cut a wider strip out

Anyone here just cut to the width of the drain and slot it in?

    Thanks

    Presumably u mean acco drain...

But yes to your question, can't see any issues cutting to width of the drain. Cut it at a slight angle so bottom of slab is a bit wider.

Yes it's an acco I'm going to attempt. The two existing slabs should offer all the support I need. I hope!

I presume you mean to perform a second cut at an angle after the initial 90 degree cut, otherwise how do you get the cut-off's out of the channel if they are wider at the bottom?

Do cuts so the void is wider at bottom than top. According drain drops in much easier then.

Presume you were going to kango it all out anway rather than lift it in once piece? :)
