I lit my new Arada stove for the second time this evening and noticed that one of the firebricks (vermiculite lining type) is already cracked.

It it's quite long but not all the way, originally i thought it was a mark from putting a log in but rubbing over it with my finger it's definitely a crack. Functionally it doesn't affect the stove at this point but should I be concerned? My last stove had brick liners and they didnt crack in the over 10 years i had it so not sure what to expect with this vermiculite type, is this normal ? I'm burning dry ash in it.

You might have overcooked it too early. They need to have a series of small fires to drive the damp out of the brick, then you can go big after that.

Mine is cracked in 5 pieces and has been like that now for 5 years. No bother.
