Boiler Pressure Issue

Having an issue with gas boiler pressure, when cold and boiler is off the pressure is around 0.6-7 bar but when turned on it rises to well over 3bar after only 15 mins

I'm having it serviced next week but wondering is it PRV-related or faulty expansion tank given the rapid rise in pressure so quickly?

    Thanks for any thoughts,

    Bren

Sounds like a faulty pressure vessel rather than PRV. Has the PRV triggered/vented at all?

TBH I knocked the boiler off once it hit 3.5, it’s a combi & vents outside as far as I know. Might let it run for longer & check if it vents tomorrow but nervous about letting it hit 4bar 😨

2.5 or 3 is around the limit for most. Best wait for the service.

If the PRV supply is isolated and the pressure remains at 0.6/0.7bar then points to a faulty EV that maybe only requires (re) precharging. If the PRV isn't passing then the other PRV (pressure relief) should only lift once or twice at around its 3bar setting but boiler pressure should fall rapidly when warm down to ~ 0.5bar if upstairs rads.
