Quick question re form for replacement vehicle reg. document

Husband has changed vehicles, via a trusted dealer. I've been navigating the forms needed, downloading them & helping him fill them in. Dealer needs the old car's registration certificate (RF101), but I made a mistake (confused by info at Citizens Information that can be a little ambiguous!), and filled in Husband's details on the back of the old reg. cert (when it should have had only his signature.

I've downladed & printed the application for a replacement reg. cert. It has enough room to explain the reason, but do we enclose the cert. in question?

And if we do, do we still have to hunt for a garda station that's still operating (and its opening hours) in order to get it signed and stamped? (I only ask because it's not easy in these rural parts!).

I'm keen to get this done as quickly as possible (as much to reassure the new owner as to get a tax disc on the new car).

Unless the dealer is a very small time Charlie then most dealer do the transfer of ownership online these days. Just give them the old registration cert with the keys when you drop the car off to them. The new owner will be issued a brand new registration cert when the dealer transfers the car to them online too.

Thank you for taking the trouble to provide that info, but I knew that. It was done weeks ago, except that due to a misunderstanding we didn't realise he needed the old cert until later.

I'm just trying to clarify whether to enclose the old ("damaged"?) RF101 in the application for a replacement. (Making enquiries by phone can be problematic here for technical and other reasons, so I thought it was worth a try here first).

No you don’t have to include the old certificate
