    Hi

Had a cracked exhaust manifold in the van, sounded like really loud tappets. Was planning to do timing and sepentine anyway.

So decided taking it out was just as handy/ Prob do the clutch whilst shes out.

Decent amount of oil leaks and the manifold is cracked right through all the way round. Sourcing 2nd hand as new dont seem

    to be available.

Anything else anyone would look at /do whilst shes out right now ?

Full 3 piece clutch kit, water pump give big hassle on those engines aswell. Definitely put a new alternator belt on it aswell, if they break they tend to go through the flimsey timing belt cover and take that with them too.

Ya had to cut the belt to remove steering pump left it on the van as all pressed fittings

Just getting back to this now, took of exhaust and intake manifold, found alot of oil in the EGR intake manifold and down towards the intakes for Cylinder 4,3,2 , 1 was dry but other 3 had oil in them.

EGR covered in oil mainly to the top of the piping (rather than gathering on bottom) suggest aerosol and pressure.

This a sign of bad turbo ?

Will check for play, anything else to consider checking here ? Taking my time with this as Van is rarely used so not needed urgently.

Stripped turbo down, there is play in it.

Anyone recommend anywhere to refurbish a Garrett Turbo ?

Turbotech old Ashbourne road- used to do all my recondiitioning. Reasonable enough as well. And never had one fail on me after him doing it.

While you have that engine out do the chains on it and change the timing cover - notorious for stretching and the cover leaks like a sieve after a while. Someone mentioned a 3 piece clutch kit - Id do a flywheel on it too.
