I used to build my own PC's a lot but I'm out of touch with best places to get stuff etc...

I want to build a very basic and budget gaming PC for my 9 year old, ideally max budget of 400 euro as it will mostly be running older games. Any recommendations appreciated!

When you say older games, what do you mean exactly? €400 is tight so would needed to know these details. Also, mouse, keyboard and monitor?

Second hand for somethings might have to be a option but the I’d go brand new with a base machine to avoid any issues. I’ve 5 desktops running at home it’s a mix of hand me downs and second hand parts mostly so it’s very doable and perfectly viable but you need a base platform to be sure you’ve working parts.

Thanks no we have monitor keyboard and mouse. Older games like Fortnite, Two Point Hospital and stuff. Basically it doesn't have to be bleeding edge graphics capable or really high res gaming.

There's a serious shortage of good, cheap PSUs so I picked the only decent one I could spot.

Uses integrated graphics but should easily hold 60+ fps in older titles. Just ensure the RAM is running at XMP (4000) in BIOS.

Alternate build: drop the CPU down and buy a used GTX 970/980 or RX 480/580 in CEX.

More or less what I was going to recommend. The 5600g has an IGPU (integrated graphics) as Kiki says but it will be fine for now. Fortnite and Minecraft will play just dandy. Good video here with 120 games of all various levels of demand on systems to give you an idea of where the cut off is,

When the time comes you can throw a decent GPU in there and have a perfectly capable machine. I'd argue that saving up for a second hand 5700xt would be better value in the long run but I've got a 580 working away just fine with a 6700k in one of my kids machines. No complaints from them so far.
