I was servicing an outside oil boiler today. On a previous service I'd mentioned about the large hole that the boiler wiring came through.

Today I noticed it had been filled with expanding foam.

This installation is over 20 years old.

Did I read somewhere that expanding foam can degrade the wiring insulation?
