Recommend me a commuting saddle?

Obviously saddles are hugely down to personal preference so I know there will be a bit of trial and error - but I am looking for some suggestions for saddles for my around town / commuting bikes (currently a Genesis Tour de Fer and a Cube e-cargo bike).

On my road bikes I tend to use very narrow saddles following a bike fit - something like the Selle Italia SLR Boost (130/132mm). I'm looking for something that is suitable for normal clothes (no bib shorts) and a slightly more upright riding position. I've tried Brooks B17 and it is far too wide for me.

Any ideas of what to look at? Ideally in the 50 euro-ish price range, risk of getting stolen

If you can get your hands on one, the Charge Spoon is a really comfy saddle. They are discontinued, but they pop up for sale from time to time.

I believe they are now made under a different name, but I'm not sure what the're called.

    Two things:

    1. I think the Charge Spoon is now made by Fabrik and called scoop
    2. I would aim for the same saddle as your road bike provided if is the right size. If it is for your road bike then it is for your commuter. Your sit bones don't change just because you aren't using padding anymore.

Thanks - I was more thinking that the riding position would change things a bit compared to the road bike (a bit more upright).

I'm going to look at the Fabric Scoop though, seems to be in the right price range

Fabric scoop is what I have on my fixed gear beater, perfect amount of padding for regular trousers etc, never had any issues with it although I never do more than 10km on it. Road bike has an SLR Boost on it for comparison

I have a Fabric Radius Elite on my flatbar shopping bike. Works well with non-padded clothes but designed for an upright seating position. It's comfy but not too soft.

It shouldn't tremendously make a difference other than where you position the saddle, your sit bones don't change. This said, humans are quite adaptable and for short town trips, a Fabric Scoop/Charge Spoon would suit most people.

I do like the Brooks Cambiums. I have a C17 and it's very comfy. I've done 8 hour stretches perched on it and any pain I was suffering after that wasn't down to the saddle. C15 might be more to your liking in terms of width. It's probably more than you're looking to spend though Bike Discount have it for €85
