Nurses pay - HSE v private nursing home

A family member is relocating back to Ireland in the new year. She is a qualified nurse with 3 years post qualification work experience.

She is trying to decide between applying to the hse or a private nursing home. While the hse pay scales are public, she is finding it hard to find out about pay in the private nursing homes.

Anyone able to advise please? You can pm me if you don't want to reply publicly.

The pay rates are similar or higher in private nursing homes but the benefits are lower, such as paid sick leave, maternity leave etc. The downside to the HSE is it takes forever to be recruited, could be a year between applying and starting so maybe best to start in a nursing home and move to HSE.

HSE are crying out for nurses. It can take a while to be recruited but that's down to the checking of documentation,Garda vetting etc. Then they generally have to give a month's notice etc.

Depending on her location some of the hospitals recruit directly through ads so dont take as long
