I have found this on the internet and wonder if this treatment is available yet in Ireland?

Think the drug in question is called Adalimumbab

The trials are fairly recent but I think the medication is already in use for rheumatism and apparently safe.

I will ask my GP when I next visit but he did not mention it to me as a procedure the last time he examined my hand.(he said to wait until the contractor became significant enough to warrant treatment)

Below is the link I came upon.

Is anyone familiar with this potential treatment (and whether it is or will be available on the medical card or privately)?

It's available in Ireland as Humira and it's used as a treatment for a whole raft of diseases. The Arthritis society of Ireland have some info. It's also prescribed and available via the

It is available on DPS/Medical card but I don't know if it's available as a treatment for Dupreytena contracture here as it appears to be an off label use in the trial you mention.

I don't know what the likelihood is of it being funded for off label use. That said? I would ask your hand specialist if he's aware of the trial and would you be suitable for attempting that treatment here.

    Good luck with it.

Thought I might bump this as they were discussing this illness on the Joe Duffy show and I missed it (maybe it will be on again tomorrow,Friday)

Did anyone catch the programme and did they mention the new treatment (adalimumab) at all?
