Classic Tractor Insurance

Hi,

Iv an old (1982) tractor that I want to bring on a tractor run. Its running perfect, everything safe. but doesn't have working lights or indicators.

wondering how people insure the likes of these, even if just for a day out (tractor run)? can you chance it without insurance for tractor run only? or is there any insurance I can get for the one day? or will i need to put lights on it etc, and get it insured properly for a year? how much will that cost? do I need to get as test for it - like a road worthiness test?

No road worthiness test required for this tractor. Most tractor runs will require display of valid motor tax too.

Someone with insurance experience might be along to add their knowledge on that part of your query.

From my experience of classic car runs, the driver is asked to sign a declaration at sign-on to state that the vehicle is insured to be on the road in accordance with the Road Traffic Acts. Not sure if the same applies to tractor runs, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

Classic tractor insurance can be arranged through one of the vintage clubs that cater for working vehicles - Irish Vintage Society or IVETA.

IVETA are nice people to deal with, we have our vintage camper with them. Their insurance allows anyone to drive the vehicle.

Don't know, but I imagine it would have to have plates to run on the road. The IVETA lass might be able to advise.

well there is a number plate on the tractor.
