    Hi All

I recently picked up a secondhand car to get me in and out of work. Its a 2010 Kia Ceed estate, I just noticed the second key is broken and I want to know where is the best place to get a replacement for it that won't cost me too much. Its the key and keyfob button in one type of key.

The key part is broken off and missing. The key fob with the buttons is still there, I need to get a battery for that to see if the buttons still work.

You should first find out if the remote still works, it will be much cheaper to sort if it does.

There are 3 basic parts, the plastic case, the key blade and the circuit board with chips, buttons and imobiliser.

You may be able to get a replacement from a Kia dealer, but they are likely to be expensive, especially if you need new circuit bought and programmed.

Independent key specialists such as https://www.autokey.ie/ will sort most keys, usually but not always cheaper than the dealer.

You can also just buy cases with blank key blades online from ebay or aliexpress or lots of places, you will then need to transfer the circuit board and get the key blade cut from your good key at any local locksmith. These cases are knock-offs, they should look like the original but can be of variable quality but are normally pretty cheap c €20-30.
