I thought this was a mistake on the Ops part! Now I'm left wondering the way things are, who and how gets to decide what gender a person an application is being made for is? Doesn't look like it could fall into any existing gender based definitions, of which there seem to be many ways to view that. So, how is this applied and who gets to decide? Some employer could apply for a person apparently a guy, employer declined, but if the person is of the opinion they are a she? What then?

This is hilarious. Particularly given that it seems to be true.

I think you're over-complicating this. This is why we have gender recognition certificates — they conclusively resolve official doubts and disputes about someone's gender.

You can certainly argue about whether this is a good idea or not, but it's not a difficult idea to implement.
