How much does a Periodic Inspection Report cost these days on a domestic house? Is it very involved or just a quick check of the fuseboard and sockets?

To be fair the cost of remedial works is separate from the cost for inspection, testing and reporting. You would likely get a cost for the inspection, but remedial works would only be quoted afterwards as only then could the particular issues in the installation be considered. I always make it clear that the cost of the inspection and report is exclusive of remedial works, and that the report may well state that the installation is in need of remedial works.

It’s not quick , if done right , it’s a fully detailed inspection and testing , depending on size of house and age ,

Thanks. And how much would something like this cost on a 3bed house with attached garage. Would we be talking €100s/€1000s?

It was built in the mid 80s and the garage in 2000, so fairly modern wiring I'd imagine.

That’s 40 year old wiring , I’d say your in for more work than you know , that’s the trouble with older installations , bits added on
