    The electric handbrake has stopped working ,Not showing any faults on dash got it plugged in to computer by my mechanic and No faults ,but he could turn handbrake on and off from the laptop ,anybody know what might be wrong

    I will have to check it out as mechanic rang while ago to check fuses in boot but they seem OK, switch seemed to be working when he was on Laptop trying to diagnose the problem.

    The parking brake switch itself? It was common enough for Passats of similar vintage to have problems with the parking brake switch.

    It was the Switch that had gone faulty
