Help getting HikVision reconnected to hik connect app

Would greatly appreciate it if there was someone who could explain as if to a small child how to get my system reconnected to the Hik-Connect app. Currently the app says, 'the device is offline'.

I'm happy enough to get on the system and change settings etc but I don't speak the language of ip parameters, port forwarding, gateways etc.

I have a  Hik Vision DS-7204HQHI-K1 in my attic. There are four cameras connected to it.

The unit is connected to an external monitor so you can view the live feed / playback and also alter the settings etc. Live feed on the monitor is working fine.

There is a Vonets wifi bridge / repeater plugged into the back of it. (VAP11N-300)

In the past the system has been connected to the Hik-Connect app but would often get disconnected (appear offline). We generally had to get the installer to come and get it reconnected. At some stage they installed the Vonets wifi bridge to try to improve the connection.

Our wireless router is on the floor below the attic. It is not wired into the DVR.

I'm guessing the router on the ground floor is not connecting to the unit in the attic. It's been so long since it was actually connected that our wifi network details could be different to those originally setup with the unit.

I think it did work previously without the vonets unit so I could certainly try removing that from the chain if that might make the explanation easier.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help.

The Vonets are handy to use but if possible try us powerline plugs, more stable connection.

If you google the vonets you can default easily enough and set back up on the new network.
