So i finally need to upgrade my desktop, after its really started to struggle with any new releases.

Doesn't need to play at 4k, as i play on a QHD / 2560 × 1440 screen, and would like to be able to play pretty much anything (Starfield, Baldurs Gate 3 etc...) at high settings. Current Rig, which i'm pretty sure will need to all go in the bin, is below.

    • Motherboard - ASRock Z87 Pro3
    • CPU - Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s)
    • GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
    • RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz

AMD, Intel, nVidia, AMD...don't care, just want the most bang for my buck. If i can keep it under €800, that would be ideal (though maybe not realistic).

Don't need storage, screens, keyboard/mice etc...and think i can keep the case (older Fractal Design case).

Starfield & Baldur's Gate 3 are quite RAM speed & CPU heavy. And you don't want an 8GB GPU going forward.

Pretty low on power draw but a new PSU wouldn't hurt long-term.

For that kinda money I would personally get a 5800X, 32GB of 3600mhz and a more basic motherboard.

Then put more into the GPU. Some of the newer games are complete pigs when it comes to requirements, particularly GPU.

    To run Starfield at 1440p high/ultra settings 60fps not even a 6700XT can cut it. You'd really want a 6800XT or 7800XT.

5800X will be relevant for many years and if at any point you need a boost, a 2nd hand 5800X3D will be cheap at that stage.
