Wetting pants

We have a 9yr old who still wets the bed at night and also wets pants during the day.

For night time he just doesn't wake up. We have a very loud alarm that wakes rest of house up but not him even though it is right his ears!

For daytime he says he can't feel the wee coming and it is out into his pants before he realises. Anything from dribble to full pee. But then he will just sit in the wet pants and not bother changing them. He doesn't seem to be discomforted by soggy pants.

Been to GP and Tallaght hospital. Nothing physically wrong. Say he will grow out of it but we are years into this now with minimal improvement. Nothing psychological either. No stresses, normal happy child.

Tried all sorts from talking, supporting, setting watches, drinking water, recording, rewards to punishments. Nothing works!

Anyone else have this problem. How did you fix it?

Can you recommend any specialist worth seeing?

When did you last bring him to the GP? My boy was still wetting the bed at 5-6. Didn't wet himself otherwise. I mentioned it to the GP one day and he said they don't consider it a problem until they're 8 as the hormone that controls all that is still developing up to that age. By the time my lad got to 8 bed wetting was happening much less and eventually stopped around that age.

Might be worth going back to the GP.

I would echo the above poster. It's a hormonal issue, and needs to be checked if he is now 9.

    Thanks for feedback.

Last check up in Tallaght was in May. Same as all others check ups: no issue, will grow out of it. No mention of hormones.

Is there any recommended specialist place/person in the country we could book directly with for a check up.
