First time buying Electric SUV

Hi All

We are starting to get ready to buy a late 2023 demo electric SUV or new 2024 one. The one i like so far is the ID 4.

Regarding battery power, should the base i be looking for be 77kwh? In the summer we will do some long drives.

It depends on where you drive and availability of chargers.

Download a better route planner app, set it up with the make and model car you are planning to get and map out some of your planned journeys in it. It will calculate charge times and stops for you. Then try another vehicle to compare.

Thanks for that. We plan to mainly charge at home(Dublin) as getting solar in also and travel to Wexford at weekends.

If you can afford an ID4 then you can afford the Tesla model Y. Get the cheaper and far superior model Y and pocket the change for the solar panels.

I have a new id4 with the smaller battery. My sister has the same with the bigger battery. My range is 330km, at the moment. The larger battery is 300kg weight extra. I can do Cork to Dublin.

Plug your destination into the computer on the car and it will give you an estimate of the charge you will arrive with.

Is the Tesla model y boot big like the ID4 as we are hoping to put the dog box in it

Much bigger, I keep all sub floors exposed also.Can even get kids small bikes in standing up. could never do that in the ID.

For me Y wins every aspect bar turning circle :)

It's crazy to think the ID4 is more expensive. Id go as far as to stay even if you put a diesel engine in a Y and remove all the great tech it would still be one of the best value family cars on the market.
