    What would be the cost of replacing the ECU on a 2013 Ford C-Max

    I'd say all in you're looking at €500+ or so, depending on the running around needed to get another one.


    A second hand unit will be about €100. The exact type will need to be found - and this may take time (often second hand ones are duff too, so I recommend get one on a trial and return basis). If you are paying a garage, they'll charge for this time.

    To fit will require the old ECU settings to be downloaded and uploaded to the new one. Takes less than half an hour.

    The keys will need to be then reprogrammed to the ECU, usually by a specialised security organisation. That could cost ~€250.

    Ring specialists to source and price the whole job. Sometimes old units can be repaired. Often the same faults are common and the fix is known.
