That makes me wonder, what's the furthest you can travel from Ireland in a straight line. If you went a little bit farther north or south, would you bypass NZ and if so, where's the next land?

No, you'll either hit the Eastern tip of Brazil or Antarctica (altthough if you choose a different starting point, it's an interesting question!).

If New Zealand wasn't in the way, you'd hit somehwere along the southern Alaska/Northwest Canada coast.

It's probably Antarctica. But if the ice is melted there too, then it might be possible to pass it and circumnavigate without hitting land.
