I would like to put in 1000 euro per month, probably into the S&P 500. I'm picking this because I don't know much about investing and it seems safe enough.

Degiro is the company that I keep seeing, is this the best one to go with?

    Thanks for your help

It's probably safe enough long term. The deemed disposable rule (pay 41% tax on profits every 8 years) is annoying, but it's not enough to put me off doing it.

I talked to a financial advisor about this was told it was not straighforward likely going to go with european and world index funds instead with Zurich I believe she said.

Can you recommend who to go with when buying S&P 500?

Closest thing I'd imagine to S&P 500 is JAM (half of my holdings are in it and a third in ATT - see below), you cannot buy the SPY ETF in Europe as a private investor (at least without shenanigans only available to the rich) due to stupid KID legislation, you'll need Degiro to buy JAM in Ireland. There is an ETF: VUSA but taxation on ETFs was written by financial retards in Ireland

If you are looking for a QQQ equivalent I'd suggest ATT, though there is an ETF: EQQQ but taxation on it is a pain unless its wrapped up in to a PRSA AVC - I have a lot of my AVC's in EQQQ and VUSA.

I’d be happy to choose JAM as a proxy for SPY buy the investment trust ATT has been a very poor substitute for QQQ

Can we avoid 41% by investing in non-domiciled ETFs like VOO and QQQ? I see they are available in eToro and I've some positions in both.

True but its performance has been better over the last 5 years than SPY or JAM, would love to hear of alternatives, maybe SMT but thats gone to the dogs totally in the last couple of years.

eToro shouldn't be selling you those as they have no KID and are therefore illegal to sell to EU domiciled people AFAIK.
